Beach Football / Soccer
People have been playing – and loving – Beach Soccer on the beaches of South America for many years now. And this spectacular variation of classic football is now finding more and more fans across the rest of the world. FIFA shares this passion and has been organising the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup since 2005. To ensure that the balls used maintain a constant quality worldwide, FIFA tests and certifies the FIFA beach soccer balls with the recognised quality brand FIFA INSPECTED and FIFA APPROVED.
Beach Soccer – as the name suggests – is played upon sand. The pitch is between 35 and 37 metres long, between 26 and 28 metres wide and is defined by a ten centimetre broad line. Halfway lines and penalty areas are each indicated by two flags at the side of the pitch. The goal measures 5.50 by 2.20 metres.
Sand is a very uneven surface, so passing along the ground rarely pays off. High balls and spectacular jumps are much more important in Beach Soccer, as are the controlled collection of high passes, precise headers and accurate bicycle kicks – which is why perfect ball control is required.
