Hossam Hassan from Egypt

Eighty goals in 168 international appearances in the impressive record of Egypt’s Hossam Hassan. Africa’s most capped player celebrates his 41st birthday on 10 August. But the prolific striker still has no desire to bring his long career to a close and recently put pen to paper on a 12-month deal with Egyptian first-division side Al Ittihad of Alexandria. Hassan began his career 24 years ago, in 1983, at top club Al Ahly. He went on to play in countries such as Greece, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates, as well as for several Egyptian teams, including Al Ahly’s arch rivals Zamalek. Hassan won a host of honours, including the African Nations Cup three times, the African Champions League twice, 14 domestic league titles and five Egyptian Cups.
