Thailand won the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Under-17 Championship on 1 September after defeating Laos 3-2 in the final. The Thais stormed to a 3-0 lead by half-time but were stunned by their rivals’ courageous comeback. “It was great to get the three goals in the first half although I felt that the players were a little tired after the break,” said Thailand head coach Prayoung Khunan.
Abdysh-Ata overcame Lokomotiv2-1 to win the Kyrgyzstan Cup for the first time on 31 August. Kyrgyz international striker Almazbek Mirzaliev (36, 90) scored a brace for Abdysh-Ata while Shukhrat Yusupov (54) was on target for Lokomotiv.
