In preparation for the CONCACAF qualifiers for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Chile 2008, which take place later this year, Mexico recently won a quadrangular tournament with a perfect record. The four-team event, hosted by Costa Rica from 13 – 15 April, included Chile, Panama and the U-20 and U-17 teams of Costa Rica. Mexico opened the tournament on 13 April with a 2-1 victory over Panama in Alajuela, while the Costa Rica U-17 team beat Chile 3-1. The next day, Mexico defeated Costa Rica’s U-20 team 2-0, while Panama registered a 2-1 triumph over Chile. The four-team event concluded on 15 April with Panama playing out a 1-1 draw against Costa Rica’s U-17 team before Mexico secured a 2-1 win over Chile.
