Honours: 2002: took part in the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan™ (one goal). 2003: English league championship winner. 2004: FA Cup and UEFA Intertoto Cup winner. Top scorer in the Spanish league and joint winner of the Golden Shoe with Thierry Henry (both scored 25 goals). 2007: UEFA Intertoto Cup winner. 38 caps for Uruguay, 17 goals.
Miscellaneous: Forlan’s father, Pablo, played in defence for Uruguay at the 1974 FIFA World Cup in West Germany and his grandfather, Juan Carlos Corazo, was Uruguay’s technical director at the 1962 FIFA World Cup in Chile. His nickname is Cachavacha (after a cartoon witch). He signed for Atletico Madrid for EUR 21 milion in June 2007
