CAF Confederation Africaine de Football

The Super Falcons reaffirmed their status as the continent’s top team by winning the final of the women’s football tournament in the 9th African Games in Algiers in July. The Nigerians recorded a resounding 4-0 victory against South Africa. A brace of goals from Ifeanyi Chiejine and one each from Perpetual Nkwocha and Vera Ikolo enabled the defending champions to hold onto gold after their home victory in Abuja during the inaugural African Games women’s football tournament four years ago. The bronze medal went to Ghana, who beat hosts Algeria 3-1 in Bologhine on 21 July.
