The draw for the AFC final qualifying round for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games handed Japan – the only team to qualify with a flawless record in the second stage – a tough outing in Group C against the likes of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Vietnam. Group A saw 2004 Olympics fourth-place finishers Iraq grouped with Korea DPR, Lebanon and Australia, while in Group B, Korea Republic will have Bahrain, Syria and Uzbekistan for company. Twelve teams came out of the pots at the AFC House and were split into three groups of four each for the final round, which will run till 21 November, with only the group toppers representing Asia at the Beijing Olympic Games next year. Hosts China qualify automatically.
