While at Monaco, Jerome Rothen was regarded as one of the rising stars of French football. Since moving to Paris Saint-Germain Football Club in 2004, however, Rothen, who is now 30, has not been able to reproduce the form that had made him hot property during his spell in the principality. Lately, the midfielder has been in the news again, but for all the wrong reasons. According to French publication L’Equipe, Rothen was recently clocked on the motorway at 245km/h in his Porsche 997. Unsurprisingly, he had to give up his driving licence and the keys to his luxury set of wheels on the spot. The French media made light of it all by joking that at least Rothen had not been driving as quickly as Czech international football player Milan Baros (now of Portsmouth) just a few months earlier. Baros, then of Lyon, was caught at a quite staggering 271 km/h.
