The Austrian football association (OFB) is pioneering computerised management of competition data. Between now and 2008, the 2,300 clubs affiliated to the OFB will be issued with laptop computers to enable them to manage all competition details. Furthermore, referees will be provided with a password that will enable them to confirm the results of matches and their decisions (such as yellow and red cards). Women’s leagues will also be provided with computer equipment and the OFB has also awarded them an initial grant of EUR 100,000 to assist the appointment of qualified coaches.
