UEFA

To mark its 50th anniversary three years ago, UEFA offered mini-pitches to its member associations and is till promoting the installation of these small pitches through its HatTrick programme. Many other football associations have followed this example in the belief that small pitches – usually located in urban areas – are useful to replace the practice of street football. The football association of Germany, for example, has decided to invest 12 million euros in building 1,000 mini-pitches as from autumn this year. In Bosnia-Herzegovina, some forty mini-pitches are being installed throughout the country, especially in the more populous areas around the capital, Sarajevo.
