Nadine Angerer – Bus To Africa

The country’s best known keeper feels most comfortable in jeans, a T-shirt, gym shoes and a light brown corduroy cap. She has a friendly, inquisitive and sociable nature and is responsible for choosing the music on the national team’s bus. Her favourite music is ska and her favourite city, Berlin.
“Berlin is cosmopolitan, less conservative than Munich,” she reflects.
“There is something new to discover in Berlin every day. It’s teeming with eccentric people. I love it.”
The 29-year-old has also discovered a penchant for photography, focusing on houses and other buildings. She is planning to take off to South Africa armed with her camera to rediscover places she once saw while backpacking. But now she has other ideas. “One of these days I want to meander through Africa with friends in a home-made bus,” she muses. “Climb in and drive off— from Berlin to Cape Town!”
She already has her bus — an old fire engine. And her World Cup bonus has taken her one step closer to her dream wooden hut with a large, first-floor veranda overlooking the African steppes and a barbecue sizzling over a camp fire.
