John Terry eyes Euro 2008 triumph

Terry is determined to lead England into the European Championship next year, despite an undistinguished qualifying campaign.
England currently sit third in Group E behind Croatia and Russia whom they meet at Wembley tonight in a crucial game.
I want to be a captain to be remembered and hopefully that’s taking us to the Euros and really giving ourselves a chance to go on and win something with England, he said.
And, as captain, to do that would be fantastic.
We’re a long way off that at the moment, but the possibility is there. Maybe we need a bit of arrogance, but in a nice way.
Hopefully we can get this result and take the momentum into the Euros because I think in big tournaments and big competitions you need a bit of luck, but the arrogance and confidence thing can help too.
I think’s it vital to get the belief of everyone. There’s nothing better when you are sitting at home watching the fans saying how well the England team are playing.
When I have not been involved in games, I have travelled to a lot of games and you see these supporters coming in from work, picking their kids up from school and coming to games in the evening.
I was like that as a kid. My mum and dad saved up for tickets. I know exactly how much it means to them and exactly how much it means to everyone in England.
When England play well it gives everyone a lift. We all know that.
People go into work on Monday mornings very high after a good result, so it is key.
We have said a lot of things too many times – but this is the crunch now and we need to let our football, our results and our performances do the talking.
Terry acknowledged that England face a tough test against Russia.
Russia are a very good side, it is going to be a very tough game – but if we can win again hopefully we can get the belief of not only the fans but of everyone in the country. Then we can all move on together,” he added.
If you give teams time to play there are so many world-class players in their team that they will find a pass to hurt you or create something from nothing.
But if you get in amongst them and get in their faces a little bit and put them under pressure they make mistakes.
We did that against Israel, put them right under pressure, didn’t let them play at all, didn’t give them any time on the ball.
It rushes them into a decision that maybe they wouldn’t have chosen if they had a bit more time on the ball.
Russia are technically very good and very good on the ball but if we can do that against them, then we can stop Russia from playing.
Croatia top the group with 20 points from eight matches followed by Russia on 18. England are level on 17 points with Israel who have played one game more.
