The AFC has renamed the Most Valuable Player award as the Abdullah Al Dabal Award in all its men’s competitions in memory of the late AFC Executive Committee member from Saudi Arabia who passed away last January. Henceforth, the Abdullah Al Dabal Award will be presented to the most valuable player in any match or tournament in AFC men’s competitions. Al Dabal, who was chairman of the AFC Competition Committee and Club Organizing Committee and a former FIFA Executive Committee member, died on 27 January at the age of 53.
