Dynamo Kiev

Although Dynamo Kiev had lost the league championship race to archrivals Shakhtar Donetsk in the two previous seasons, the club gave itself the best possible birthday present to mark its 80th anniversary by becoming the first club in Ukrainian football history to win the league, cup and super cup treble. Dynamo Kiev took the league title by a nine-point margin over Shakhtar after also securing 2-1 victories against their archrivals in each of the cup finals. Dynamo, coached by Ukrainian Anatoly Demyanenko, owe their 25th league championship title largely to four Brazilian players -central defender Rodrigo, playmaker Carlos Correa, attacking midfielder Diogo and goalgetter Kleber. The four Brazilians and three Ukraine internationals, OlexanderShovkovskiy, Andriy Nesmachniy and Oleh Husiev, will now be hoping to dazzle in the UEFA Champions League. Last year, the team had a disappointing run in the competition, failing to win any of its six group matches.
