CONMEBOL

After being re-elected for the seventh time in succession on 19 October 2007, AFA President Julio Grondona is set to continue plotting the course of Argentinian football until 2011. Originally voted to office back in April 1979, the 76-year-old polled 44 of the 46 votes. Grondona made no secret of his delight with the new mandate. “This is a special day,” he remarked. “One of the most important in my life. Or rather the most important in my career in football.”
