CIES extends academic network

The CIES (International Center of Sport Studies), FIFA’s academic partner for the FIFA Masters, is bout to launch a new course in Chile. The first edition of the Sports Management course, organized in cooperation with the Universidad Santo Tomas (UST) in Santiago de Chile, will commence in Amy 2007. The UST is a young and dynamic academic institution that was founded in 1975. More than 50,000 students are enrolled at UST, which is present in 17 Chilean cities.
The UST/FIFA/CIES course has the support of the Chilean football association and the Chilean ministry of sport.
In Argentina, where CIES and FIFA have established a long-term cooperation with the Universidad Catolica Argentina (UCA), it is already the fourth edition of the Sports Management course organized in cooperation with this university, which, since 2004, has proved to be an enthusiastic and efficient partner. The 2007 edition commenced in May.
More than 120 students have already graduated from the UST/FIFA/CIES course, not only from Argentina, but also from Colombia, Ecuador and Mexico.
This course also offers education in various key areas in sport today, such as law, finance, management, marketing, communication and event organization.
Moreover, the course has the support of the Argentinian secretariat for sports and the Argentinian football association.
