CAF Confederation Africaine de Football

Under the leadership of Issa Hayatou, the CAF Executive Committee met at CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, on 5 June 2007 and passed several decisions. Among them, 20 October was confirmed as the date of the draw for the African Cup of Nations to be staged in Ghana in 2008, a new competition exclusively for national team players participating in their respective domestic leagues was given the go-ahead and a working committee was put in place for this purpose. The Executive Committee discussed the possibility of centralizing the marketing and television rights for the preliminary competition of the African Cup of Nations. Many associations expressed their willingness to join the new marketing system, which will start with the combined African Cup of Nations/2010 FIFA World Cup TM qualifiers.
