Blatter visits SFV

Swiss football association (SFV) president Ralph Zloczower was re-elected by acclamation for a further two years by the association’s delegates’ assembly in February. The Bernese lawyer will therefore remain at the helm of the SFV during EURO 2008, which Switzerland is due to co-host. Zloczower, who has been in office since 2001, welcomed FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter as his guest at Berne’s historic city hall. In his opening address, Zloczower pointed out that his assertion at the same location two years earlier that football was the most popular sport in Switzerland still held true. “The excitement that we felt last summer at the World Cup stadiums and which reigned in our country for weeks on end was quite unforgettable,” he said.
