Blatter receives Marie-Louise Foe

On 3 May 2007, Joseph S. Blatter met Marie-Louise Foe, the widow of former Cameroon international Marc-Vivien Foe, at the Home of FIFA in Zurich. The footballer died tragically during the FIFA Confederations Cup France 2003 semi-final between Cameroon and Colombia on 26 June 2003. Samuel Eto’o, a Cameroon international who plays for Barcelona, also attended the meeting as a close friend of his former team-mate’s family. Ever since the untimely passing of Marc-Vivien Foe four years ago, FIFA has kept its pledge to continue supporting his dependants. In 2003, FIFA set up a foundation endowing CHF 1 million towards the education of the deceased player’s children until they come of age.
