Following enquiries from the Czechoslovakian and Mexican associations, the International Football Association Board (IFAB) passes the decision that “if a linesman notices an incident on the pitch that is liable to discredit the sport, he shall immediately notify the referee.” It also decided that the crossbar cannot be replaced by a rope.

Italy beat Greece 4 – 0 in Milan in a qualifier for the 1934 World Cup. The second leg is not played after the Greeks withdraw, despite 20,000 tickets having already been sold. As a form of compensation, the Italians buy a house for USD 400,000 for the Greeks to use as their headquarters.
