A New Etoile Star

African representatives Etoile du Sahel also made their mark on the tournament that brings together the confederations’ top club teams. Much was expected of one particular member of the Tunisians’ squad, and Amine Chermiti certainly lived up to expectations by scoring in the match for third place and also shining in Etoile’s other encounters. Chermiti may only be 19 years old, but he is a tricky, dangerous striker with a breathtaking turn of pace, qualities that saw him make his senior international debut a few months ago.
En route to the semi-finals, Etoile had defeated Mexico’s Pachuca 1-0, leaving the Central Americans, who had travelled to Japan with high hopes, wondering what might have been. They will be hoping for a chance to set the record straight next year – but first they will have to secure a coveted place at the FIFA Club World Cup 2008.
